You are HOP-I, a small probe with a big purpose - explore distant planets and uncover which worlds might welcome life.
Orbit by orbit, you’ll deploy satellites, scan atmospheres, and read the signatures of each planet’s story: magnetic fields, auroras, plasma storms, habitable surfaces, and their chemical compositions.
But space is never still. Solar flares and coronal mass ejections roll through the system, threatening your fragile scientific instruments. When the storms come, you’ll need to protect your satellites by putting them into safe mode until the storm passes.
Wait for calm… then scan, record, and learn.
A space exploration game about curiosity and the quiet art of science.
Sometimes you’ll find a planet full of promise.
Sometimes, only silence.
But the stars always hum with possibility.
HOP-I: Planetary Explorer was created by Lindsay, Martin, Pablo, and Nina for the Science Remix Game Jam. This international team created HOP-I to help make real science objectives into interactive media. The team consisted of both non-industry game members and current game industry members.
Games Y'all is a meetup presented by The Museum of Human Achievement. We endeavor to celebrate, amplify, and support the unique and underrepresented within indie games and beyond.
